What difficulties do you face outside of class that impact your performance in school (i.e., family responsibilities, jobs, etc.)?
The primary purpose for this assignment: Once you’ve got the gist of how GTD works, consider your own “system” (or lack thereof) and how you might change it to make it more effective.
Some questions to consider (for brainstorming purposes — you don’t have to answer all of them):
Explain your current organization/productivity system (or lack thereof). Is it effective? Will it still work now that you’re taking college classes? How might it be improved?
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a student? How might you use a productivity system to play on those strengths and/or compensate for those weaknesses?
What difficulties do you face outside of class that impact your performance in school (i.e., family responsibilities, jobs, etc.)? What can you do to find a balance between school and other responsibilities?
Keep in mind that my goal here isn’t necessarily to get all of you to use GTD specifically, but I’ve found that reviewing GTD with students often helps them identify gaps in their current organizational systems and gives them ideas about how to be more consistent in keeping up with tasks and information.
