Tree Observations
This tree observation was taken from the urban yard with indigenous trees naturally grown and the effects observed in the research can represent both the rural and urban forests. Two plots were used in the process of data collection. The method data sampling involved was the penny plot method and total of twenty sampled trees were used to draw the conclusion of the whole procedure.
The two plots utilized provided several species of trees in the group of the red oak hence providing a value above the threshold diversity required. A lot of trees of the same species make them susceptible to attacks by insect diseases. Planting different species however enable reduce such incidences.
Many of the red oak trees are medium sizes hence showing that the forest was a young one. The medium dead trees may be attributed to shading and overshadowing. The mature dead trees too were available showing that there might be another cause of the death of mature trees. The crown, foliage trunk and limbs were too dominant showing abnormalities in the trees’ health. The trunk and limbs were especially pushing beyond the threshold.
