Traits of optimism Research Project 1 Written Report essay writing services

You should write your research report independently of your partner. You will be turning in your own paper for Research Project 1. Your research report should describe your findings and follow the format below. Your report should be no longer than 15 pages including Title page, abstract, tables, and references. Be sure to follow APA format when writing your research report.
Components of written report
1. Title Page
2. Abstract
3. Introduction
a. Begin very broadly. Explain why you think the measurement of your trait is interesting and important. Cite primary references that have previously studied the chosen trait (most papers cite between 5-10 references). Consider such issues as: Has your trait been measured before? How is your scale similar or different from other approaches? Consider the possible problems you might run into measuring your trait.
b. Become more focused by the end of the introduction. Close the introduction with the following statement: “It is the purpose of this report to present an original [enter your trait] scale, and to attempt to provide construct validity for the scale by relating it to criteria derived from autobiographies written by the participants. The hypothesis is that there will be a positive correlation between the total [trait] score and the amount of [trait] participants express in their autobiographies.”
4. Method- Your method section will need to strike a balance between being concise and containing enough detail. Your outside reading of journal articles on instrument validation will help you write this section. Your method should refer to research and statistics terms we cover in class.
a. Participants. Describe the participants in as much detail as you can.
b. Data Collection. Describe when and where the measures were completed.
i. Autobiographies. Describe the important characteristics of the autobiographies. Describe, in detail, (so that someone else could follow your procedure exactly) how you coded the autobiographies.
ii. Likert Scale. Describe how you developed your scale, and how the scale was to be scored.
c. Analyses. Describe the analyses you conducted in detail.
5. Results. Your results section should refer to research and statistics terms we cover in class.
a. Report which items were deleted from your scale (be sure to discard items that are constants). Report the final coefficient alpha for your scale. For instance “the coefficient alpha of the revised scale was .85.”
b. Report the inter-rater reliability correlations and the correlations among the averaged autobiography codings (i.e., validity concerns).
c. Report the correlations between the Likert scale and the autobiography codings.
d. Report the associated significant tests for all correlations, and state whether or not each is significant. For instance, “the correlation was significant (r(N=18)=.34, p<.05).” State whether the research hypothesis was confirmed or disconfirmed. Attach the relevant SPSS/PASW output (which will include the final reliability of the Likert scale items and the correlation matrix).

e. Include and refer to Table 1: Revised version of the questionnaire, including the mean and standard deviation across participants for each item and the total (averaged) scale.

6. Discussion
a. Discuss the following things: How well did your measures do? If not so well, try to explain why you think you didn’t do as well as you might have. The strengths and limitations of your study. How would you proceed in the future to assess your trait? End very broadly: What are the implications for your research for understanding people in general?
7. References
a. Include at primary references that you cited. These should include (but not be limited to) the three primary references you looked up for your Background Literature Review.
8. Table 1
a. Create a table that has all the items of your Likert Scale with the means and standard deviations of those items.
9. See sample paper for a guide.
