In addition I will attach 4 book chapters that will help you in writing this paper. so you need to write a theoretical frame work and you can choose any. please see the guidelines in the first attachment. what I am talking about, I am suggesting to use a screening tool HQ-2 in our primary care clinic to identify the patient who is at risk of depression and treat them earlier.

This Session you WILL CHOOSE your theory or theoretical framework (from nursing or elsewhere–public health, business, allied health sciences ,etc) that you have decided (or you and your chair have decided) will be the DRIVING theoretical underpinnings for your project.

  1. You WILL describe the theory, framework, etc in detail — including its major concepts, themes, and tenets.
  2. You WILL describe how this theory, via the identified concepts, themes, tenets, will guide, drive, foster, lead, or support the actualization of YOUR project.
  3. You WILL give examples to support #2 above regarding how key components of your theory will be used in your action plan/implementation plan, and how the plan/project will “run” most efficiently because you are using the theory as your base!
  4. You CANNOT use Plan/Do/Check/Act as a THEORY because it is not a theory but a strategic plan in QI projects—it could be good to show how Plan/Do/Check/Act is used as a vehicle for implementation of your theory and plan and how it can bind the parts together….just say’in. 🙂

 

Readings: Issel: Chapter 6 (I WILL ATTACH THIS TO THE FOLDER) concentrating on programmatic–(process and effect) theory discussion–and how your chosen nursing or change theory fits as programmatic intervention (process or effect) theory and Zaccagnini: Chapter 1 and Chapter 9 about Change theory, Chapter 10-Step IV (I WILL ATTACH). Zaccagnini is more basic and succinct regarding theory discussion and you can and will use Zaccagnini as primary source for this one assignment–but you will use Issel to let me KNOW that you are using a program theory and how it is both a process and impact theory…..cite Issel and Zacc to support your thoughts and choice of theory.

  1. Some good choices are: nursing theories, change theories (Kurt Lewin, Prochaska and DiClemente’s theories of change model), health promotion theories (Becker’s Health Belief Model, Pender’s Health Promotion Model), physiologic theories for those who are looking at activity or weight loss, psychological theories for those with psych/mental health projects, etc. You can even take the most applicable tenets from a couple theories or frameworks and combine them for your work. and finally, you can choice a theory or framework that was used in the investigative evidence works that you reviewed about your potential solutions!!
