What is Benchmarking?
Benchmarking is the process of determining who is the very best, who sets the standard, and what that standard is (Reh, n.d.). For example, Starbucks is one of the most well known coffee chains in the world and is constantly praised for their creativity and quality. There are several chains and local shops that have tried to imitate the popular coffee chain, but due to the standard that Starbucks has introduced to the world, many lack the millions of loyal customers. When being compared to Starbucks, most cannot match their innovative ideas and superiority.
