Introduction

In general, business process analysis is an essential tool that mainly utilized by business analysts to understand the requirements and problems of business. The goals of business analysis are providing business solutions, developing user interface, and enhancing performance of the business. There are three kinds of business processes such as primary processes, support processes, and management processes. Primary processes are also known as critical processes, they are very crucial in all sections, cross-functional and provide value to customers and these activities help organization to reach its mission. Support processes are like back bone for primary processes, they can be strategic and elemental to the Organization to some extent that enhances their ability to achieve the primary processes. (Wil van der Aalst, Kees Max van Hee, 2004). The purpose of management processes is to measure, monitor, and regulate business activities. Anyhow, this paper will attempt to provide a detailed analysis of the two major business processes such as primary processes and support processes.

As-Is Analysis

As-Is and To-Be Analysis is the term given to creating flowcharts and business process maps that outline the present situation and then go on to generate the forthcoming presentation. Primary sources play a crucial role in producing company’s products or services. Examples of primary sources are the purchase of raw materials, the deal products or services, plan and engineering, production and distribution. (Barbara A. Carkenord , 2009). The below image shows As-Is analysis of primary sources, for example, an e-commerce company that sells products. The process starts with the sales manager of the company obtains a product order from a customer and the manager went to see the stock level. The sales manager will parcel the product if there is sufficient stock on hand. The process ends after shipping the product with the invoice. If there is insufficient stock in the company, the sales manager will request the customer to change the purchase order.

Reengineering of Support Processes

Business process reengineering is also called as ‘new industrial engineering that includes the complete rehabilitation of major business processes to reach substantial developments in productivity, total time and quality. This analysis has been attracting both companies and academic community, it may influence management operation and working processes in organizations in the future. Reengineering is very beneficial for support processes because it helps to refocus organization values on customer requirements, redesign major working processes, enhances business processes in each and every section of the organization, and also helps to rethink fundamental issues. (Hammer, Michael, and James Champy, 2003).
