assignment will be group based (maximum three per group) and aimed
to provide students with a technical knowledge of the build
configuration, operational procedures and application of production
high speed milling centres.Coursework Assignment. Submit a detailed technical report and
Power-Point presentation on the application of 5 Axis CNC High
Speed Milling and the optimisation of CNC High Speed Milling

the Unisign Unipent 4000 Machine Tool (www.unisign.nl). Provide a
detailed technical description and 3D-CAD model to demonstrate how
three linear axes and two rotary axes are combined to provide 5
Axis machining capability. Review the EcoSpeed F Machine Tool
(www.ds-technologie.de) and provide a detailed technical
description and 3D CAD model to demonstrate how the spindle
achieves 3 Axis capability. (30 marks)(b) Review www.omative.com and provide a detailed analysis on
the technology and application of adaptive control systems
associated with multi-axis CNC machine tools. Discuss the theory
and application of feedrate optimisation programming techniques
highlighting the assumptions made and any significant limitations.
Describe the operational benefits that may be achieved by the
implementation of both systems. (30 marks) (c) Review tooling
advances associated with high-speed milling. Include spindle
adaptors, tool holding, cutting tool geometry / materials and
