Light & color Gemstones
Light & color Gemstones
Art History literature review Proposal The proposed literature review will concern light and colour in art. I am interested in gems because I collected gem stones and HAVE ALWAYS BEEN fascinated by the light and colour of the gems. Without light we see nothing, we don’t see colour. The colour of any material is due to the nature of light itself. Daylight, often called white light, is actually all of the colours of the spectrum combined. When light strikes a material, most of the light is absorbed while a smaller amount of a particular frequency or wavelength is reflected. Therefore I like to use them as my next projects of the colour and light, due to the mystic and the electric reflection of light from some of the gemstones. I have researched artists Roger Hiorn (b. Birmingham, 1975) his installation Seizure was an installation of a glistening cave of copper-sulphate crystals GROWN IN A SOUTH LONDON COUNCIL FLAT. I also research on a Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (b. Japan, March 1929) a Japanese artist and writer WHO has worked in a wide variety of media INCLUDING …… TO DISCUSS THESE WORKS I WILL LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING BOOKS Colour and Culture by John Cage, Culture and Meaning by John Cage, Colour for Designers and Artists by Paul Zwlanski and Mary Pat Fisher. Light and Color – Literature Review : BOOKS COLOUR FROM THE WHITECHAPEL DOCUMENTS OF CONTEMPORARY ART SERIES? WHICH WOULD GIVE YOU MANY TEXTS IN ONE BOOK
