I want you to write a letter as if you were Paul addressing the situation and community you have invented. How would Paul respond to your situation? Your letter should be roughly the size of Philemon, about two pages double-spaced. Finally, I want you to read chapter 17 in Ehrman’s book and refer to the lecture from today and describe the process by which you came up with your forgery. Do you think you were convincing? You MUST make reference to ALL of the genuine Pauline letters in your own letter, either by quoting them (put in parenthesis where you get your quotation), or by paraphrasing them (also mark it in parenthesis). You MUST cite Ehrman’s textbook in your third section on describing the process. This third section should be at least one page double-spaced. So, the whole project should be 3 1/2 – 4 pages long. For citation methods, please use MLA format. Prompt: “A young woman who was engaged to marry another man in the community has broken off her engagement in favor of living a celibate, chaste life. Her former fiance, who is not a believer in Jesus, is angry with her and with the church as a whole. He is threatening to take her into his home by force. What should the church do in response? What kind of life should the young woman live? Should she remain chaste and unmarried? If she chooses to marry the man, how should she live as his wife?”
