Purpose: This final project will allow you to demonstrate your knowledge of concepts in psychology and further reflect on how they are relevant in your life and within society. Psychology is applicable in all of our lives and the intent of this assignment is for you to connect and understand concepts that are pertinent and new to you. You have an opportunity to choose topics within psychology that interest you and further explore them beyond the classroom. Skills: There are many skills that will be utilized within this project including identifying credible research, applying global views to psychology, critical thinking and reflection as well as learning how to display your research in a written format (portfolio). This project also provides a unique opportunity for you to be creative via paper format or digital format. Task: You will be developing a portfolio to display the psychological concepts that you are most interested in. Your portfolio should reflect your creativity, thinking and imagination and demonstrate that you have learned at least 3 concepts discussed in class. (Hint: It is more enjoyable if you pick concepts that interest you or you can relate too) You can design your portfolio to be on paper or digital. Portfolio Requirements: • A cover page • An introduction page –providing a narrative overview of what will be covered in your portfolio • 3 concepts including 1 with a global perspective (A global perspective is when someone can think about a situation as it relates to the rest of the world.) o At least 2 visual components for each concept: this can be pictures, drawings, graphs, charts that clearly represent the concept (you can use magazines, news articles, diagrams/pictures via a website, etc.) o At least 1 peer reviewed article that is relevant to the concept o Written Reflection for each concept answering the following 1. Summary of the Concept you chose 2. Which psychological topic, principles, and theories are relevant? 3. Why did you select these visual components for this concept? 4. Why did you select the article for this concept? 5. How did the components help you learn something new and what did you learn specifically? 6. How does this concept relate to you in your past, present or your hopes for the future? 7. If global concept, how does it relate to the rest of the world?
