3rd Paper: Anthropology Journal Article Review
Instructions/Overview: Pick a peer-reviewed anthropological article written within the last four years to read, summarize, critique, and share with the class. This assignment with help you become more aware of the type of research taking place in anthropology today.
 It must be an article from one of the 4 fields on anthropology- archaeology, linguistics, physical anthropology, or socio-cultural anthropology.
 You may choose from the following lists of research journals and reputable magazines or another anthropology journal. Try to pick an article that focuses on research (peer-reviewed) and not a toned-downed article for the general public.
 It is key that the viewpoint of the writer is anthropological and not other disciplines such as history, psychology, or political science.
 At the top of your paper put your name and cite the article in the following format:

• You should BRIEFLY paraphrase the article in your own words (no more than one, single spaced page to answer the first three questions) and refer to the author(s) ideas versus your ideas or comments.
• Please answer the following 6 questions in order:
• What are the main points of the article? (no more than 1/2 of a page)
• How did the author’s test their theories?
• What are the author’s conclusions?
• Did the author make a compelling argument for their case? Did it seem reasonable or bias?
• Why did you choose this article? What interested you about it?
• Discuss one anthropological idea you learned in the article.

Transforming Anthropology, American Anthropologist, Antiquity, Ethos, American Journal of Physical Anthropology, Archaeology, Medical Anthropology, Cross-Cultural Research, Natural History, Cultural Survival Quarterly, Southwestern Journal of Anthropology, Current Anthropology, Smithsonian, Discover, The Sciences, The World & I, and National Geographic Magazine (NGM is the only non-peer reviewed article allowed)

How to find an article:
Use a search engine such as FirstSearch, EBSCO, ProQuest, Academic Search, ERIC to find an appropriate article. If you are not familiar with searching for articles this way, it may take some time to become comfortable with the system. This is a good learning opportunity for you and an important aspect of college level work. A couple of notes:
