Your hotel wants to work with a travel agency to promote vacation packages, trips, and special weekend rates to increase its occupancy rate. You have been in the sales department for two years and have worked successfully with meeting planners, event directors, and group sponsors. The hotel general manager is seeking your help in developing information to provide the travel agents.

Hotel Team Apprenticeship Assignment

1. Using the Internet or your local Chamber of Commerce as a resource, research local attractions that you might wish to offer in your packages. Include at least six, reaching as many market segments as possible.

2. Create a brochure that promotes your hotel. Include features, benefits, photographs or clip art, and other vital information such as phone numbers, location, reservation information, logos, and so forth.

3. Write a press release describing the vacation packages and special promotional offers. Include information regarding the savings resulting from the special packages as compared to purchasing the various elements separately.

4. Develop a folder of collateral materials , including items such as descriptions of the rooms, photographs of the property, menus for the food and beverage outlets, and recreational opportunities.

5. Plan a dinner and tour of your property for at least 20 travel agents in your area. Include the dinner menu as well as the specific features of your hotel that you plan to include in the tour. Create an agenda for the dinner meeting. Identify personal selling techniques for use in the presentation.
