As you know you were asked to do three things in yourpaper. First, you were asked to define and then compare the legal terms“search” and “seizure,” and in doing so, to compare three or more elements ofthe terms. Next, you were asked to identify one police procedure thatrelates to a search or seizure. Finally, you were asked to develop ashort hypothetical which relates to a search or seizure, which included anethical concern that may arise with the practice, and describe whatperspectives may exist on both sides of the issue. You were instructedthat the paper was to be a minimum of 2 pages (excluding cover and referencepage), and you were to use at least 2 sources beyond your text material. You lost many points in every section of the paper. Overall, I do not think you understand what the terms “search” and “seizure” mean in terms of a Fourth Amendment analysis. The bigger problem in your paper is your writing. I had an extremely difficult time understanding what you were trying to convey in almost ever part of the paper. Please see the attached graded paper, and pay particular attention to my comments. The good news is that we have a resouce here at KU that can help: The KU Writing Center. Please use them! You also lost points for mechanics and proofreading issues, incorrect statements of law without citation or support, APA format (you need more citation), and an overall lack of substance. Almost all of the substance you included was way too general, and did not include simple definitions which you can then apply to your analysis.
