Houston has a world-renowned arts community. When it’s safe to do so, I encourage you to visit locally. Learning about art from a book or screen is one thing, but experiencing art in real time, witnessing its actual scale, textures, colors, etc – is a VERY different experience that should bring you closer to first understanding then appreciating art (as well as your understanding of how art institutions work).
Use the next page, a file of a student example as a template and guide for this assignment. Make sure to choose different artworks than the ones used on the following page. Upload your own file choosing 10 artworks from 10 art periods from the list below using 5-10 different virtual museums listed previously in this chapter. Copy and paste an image of the artwork, label it with: Title, date, size and current location. Label the art period it is from. You will score 10 points for every correctly labeled artwork, but the period/era/style/classification is the most important aspect of this assignment.
Since this assignment will be a list of research information from museums, you may copy and paste information directly from museum websites; the plagiarism checker is in place to make sure that you do not copy from other student papers. As long as you are doing your own work, you do not need to worry about your plagiarism score.
