an essay of 7-8 pages

For Paper 4, I want you to take a paper you’ve already written (you may create something new, if you like) and apply at least three pieces of literary criticism (from the library databases) on the story (or a poem) you wrote about in that paper, using one theoretical lens (psychoanalysis, feminism, ecocritism, etc). To help you with this assignment, we will be reviewing literary research, theory, and criticism in class for two weeks. See the class libguide for assistance as well.

During these sessions, I will approve your topics/approaches, help you draft, and discuss good approaches to public speaking for the final. To decide on an approach, consult 1906-1930 in your Norton textbook. Be sure to review videos on the East Campus library page for assistance with research and to take advantage of the help of reference librarians on campus (library, bldg. 4) and via the Ask-a-Libarian service, which will be discussed in class after Thanksgiving.

You’ll want to develop an essay of 7-8 pages, not including the Works Cited page (you’ll need to quote both the texts and the criticism in your paper) in 12-point font (Times New Roman, double-spaced), which fully supports a thesis.
