Your journal 3 task is to identify various cost aspects for developing the HIS interface that is accessible through smart handheld devices and integrating the HIS interface securely with other information systems in the hospital. The hospital staff use various legacy systems such as the HR system, finance system, access system and payroll systems. These systems should also be accessible using smart handheld devices. The CEO would like to develop a complete set of software, hardware, telecommunication and human resources infrastructure for the purpose of developing the HIS interface planned in Journal 2. Your submission should be a 5 year costs analysis including potential benefits realisation. Provide an explanation to accompany your costs analysis.

The adoption of new Health Information System is one of the challenging tasks that need to be revised with the changing technology. However, medicine is one of the disciplines that has profoundly influenced by the smartly handled devices. According to evident surveys and high ownership of these point-of-care tools, their incorporation in health information system has become mandatory for better communication (Ventola 2014). Nevertheless, a strategic plan needs to be developed for the implementation of the new version of Health Information System.

Problem Description

Traditionally, the problems associated with old electronic health records include the financial issues that leads to adoption and implementation cost while purchasing a new hardware or software. The Electronic Health Records has certain unintended consequences of the increased medical errors, change in the structure of power and the over-reliance on technology (Menachemi and Collum 2011).

Strategic Planning and Implementation

The vital role played by information technology was the primary motivation for the heath care system to adopt a second information plan. However, the need for a strategic plan can be forwarded by the use of adopted methodologies that are reflective for managers. The BSP strategy decides the problems faced by traditional health information system, CSF factors in achieving to monitor the success and E/M analysis to judge the performance of outputs (Abdelhak, Grostick and Hanken 2014). Figure 1 portrays the three approaches that can be used in HMIS strategic planning.

A comprehensive wireless business report divides the open health-related activities, highlighting many of the prospects becoming available inside the health sector to take full advantage of increased access to the technology. The short term and long term HIS planning need to include structure, processes, and outcome following a step wise approach for diversifying the project portfolio approved by hotel management (Winter et al. 2011).

However, a flow chart in Figure 2 below will help in analyzing the basic information requirements for the change.
