Engineering dissertation interim report online essay editor
(Solar cooker): The aim of the project is to develop a prototype of a solar cooker. Following on from last year’s project, work this year will broaden the remit to consider a broader range of alternatives which can be compared with previous designs, including also industrial size cookers used for restaurant cooking. A detailed design will be carried out of the optical elements as well as of the cooking vessel, including both optical and thermal processes. The design will be validated by modelling the operation of the cooker under realistic illumination and usage conditions.
The report should provide the current state of progress with a clear plan as to what is required to complete the stated aims and objectives.(please find attached document)
Having clarified what the project is about you need to create a Gantt chart. This reflects how the project has been broken down into distinct ‘sub-tasks’, with some estimation of the time it will take to complete each such task.
The literature review is a continuous task; on-going throughout the project. However, within the interim report literature is not explicitly reviewed (this is done in the dissertation), but is a means of justifying your proffered approach.
As already stated you will need to sort out your project aims and objectives, with some idea of deliverables and timescale and identify essential milestones that need to be reached within an appropriate time scale for the project to complete on time and within budget and available resources. Clearly this requires you to identify the principal underpinning concepts, analysis or measurement methods associated with your project and to indicate the extent to which you will be using or extending the concepts addressed. Then there is your current comprehension of the literature read. This should allow you to clearly indicate how the literature provides justification and at least some indication of your planned theoretical analysis or design of the experimental programme to be undertaken. All this is rationally supported by appropriate Gantt chart, figures, drawings, sketches of what might be involved or necessary et cetera.
This project will propose a solar cooker for Kenya.
two projects are mentioned in the paper description:
The first project, proposed a design of 3-D compound Parabolic Concentrator which belong to the non-imaging category. The main reason behind his selection of the non-imaging category was the optical properties limitations of the imaging concentrators.
The second project, proposed and compared between the two types of the concentrating collectors, with Compound Parabolic Concentrator as the non-imaging, and Parabolic dish reflector as the imaging. The suitable solar cooker was chosen in his paper according to the evaluation of the two solar cookers performances by comparing there optical properties, thermal losses, and cooking times. The Parabolic dish reflector solar cooker was the decided solar cooker to be installed in Kenya.
