Assessment Structure Students are recommended to review the structure of the Hollensen core text and make an outline (main headings and sub-headings) for their plan covering the marketing key tasks and decision areas before writing. The following decision areas with a guide word count is: 1. Business and Marketing Objectives (200 words) 2. Country Screening and Selection (300 words) 3. Market Segment Selection (500) words) 4. Entry Mode Selection (1000 words) 5. Detailed International Marketing Mix Selection (1000 words) 2 Students are advised that their plan must not include a PESTLE or a SWOT analysis or use as these techniques are overused. Neither should they use strategy analysis tools such as Porter’s An action orientated detail marketing plan is required. Marking Scheme (100%) divided as follows: 1. Application of accurately referenced theoretical concepts and principles of International Marketing drawn from the module syllabus. (30%) You are advised to review and list the main theories and principals covered in the IM syllabus and how these have been applied in the case studies and other examples. 2. Use of practical examples and secondary data to support your decisions. (30%) You must support your plan with examples drawn from the practice of international marketing. Your decisions must be supported by secondary data (qualitative and quantitative). 3. Critical evaluation of your decisions. (30%) You must reflect upon (think about) and assess your options and your decisions. 4. Logical structure (a marketing plan), clear use of English, accurate referencing of books and journal articles (web references unless for secondary data sources receive few marks), and use of word limit. (10%) Use the required font size (Arial 11 or 12 point). You must have a clear structure using headings and sub-headings to guide the reader through the plan. Reference your secondary data sources carefully; ‘cut and pasted’ URLs (uniform resource locator) will result in mark deductions. Use diagrams to summarise and simplify information. Diagrams just ‘cut and pasted’ from Hollensen or from other on-line sources will result in a deduction in marks as this doesn’t demonstrate understanding and will break the minimum font size requirement.
