After reading Chapter 3 in your text and viewing the assigned video, answer the following questions:
- How does the Stanford prison study connect to the ethical issues raised in the book chapter?
- How do the features of the true (classic) experimental design mitigate against the ‘individual’ explanations for the extreme behavior of the ‘prison guards’ that resulted? That is, how do the elements characterizing a true experiment refute the argument that the guards’ actions can be explained away as being the behavior of inherently ‘bad’ people?
