UNIT SEVEN INTRODUCTION
The Unit 7 Handout stresses that the biblical concept of “cleaving” is not the same as becoming “one flesh.” What God Has Joined Together gives a biblical foundation for showing that cleaving is an emotional and mental process and not a sexual relationship. Men Are Like Waffles; Women Are Like Spaghetti emphasizes that cleaving is necessary in order to properly prepare for a satisfying physical relationship. The Family introduces the concept of a unity that retains differentiation.
- Comprehend the importance of the principle of cleaving: a Biblical marriage covenant is based on the cleaving of a male and a female—from the words, “and shall cleave to his wife.”
- Complete a critical/reflective writing on, “Differentiated Unity: Becoming One While Maintaining Uniqueness,” using proper grammar, spelling, syntax, logic, and so forth.
