Develop a Vision,Mission Philosphy and Program Evaluation

For this week, you will have read Chapters 2 and 3 in your text and reflected on developing a vision, mission, philosophy, and program evaluation. You will also have completed the first week’s assignment of exploring difference models of early childhood programs. You will have an opportunity to begin planning an early childhood center around components of the models you felt were most developmentally appropriate and practical.

For this assignment, reflect on what you have learned about the process for program planning and evaluation. Write a strategic plan detailing a proposed vision, mission, philosophy, and means of program evaluation for an early childhood program.

  • Correlate the proposed vision, mission, and philosophy to a particular child development theory as well as your own core beliefs of early childhood education.
  • Define how the vision, mission, and philosophy actualize as observable practice in the center.
  • Identify program goals and objectives; determine how these goals will be met.
  • Develop a coherent action plan for meeting those goals.
  • Design a plan to evaluate the program’s success in meeting its goals. Include strategies for providing feedback to appropriate stakeholders.

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages.

Introduction:

Vision, Mission, Philosophy, and Program Evaluation

Planning begins with an awareness of what constitutes high-quality programming for young children and a general philosophy of the purposes and functions of early care and education programs. With this in mind, the director collaborates with stakeholders to arrive at a program vision and mission to provide the guiding force in all subsequent programmatic decisions.

  • Use the NCU Library and/or other resources you may find helpful to research more detail regarding the influences and components that contribute to the development of a high-quality programs for young children.
  • Brainstorm why the values of the stakeholders and local community must be taken into account to ensure that child care programs meet the needs of the intended clientele.
  • Ponder the difference between a mission statement and a vision statement.
