Possible results for this assessment are:
- P – Pass
- U – Unsatisfactory. You may be asked to resubmit the assessment.
- F – Fail.
To achieve a Pass you must successfully complete all tasks.

This assessment will be marked by a teacher. The teacher will use the following marking guide to provide you with feedback about your completed assessment. Please use this guide as a double check for you assessment before you submit your work on the OLS.
You must receive a result of Satisfactory in all tasks in order to Pass this assessment.

What you have to do
You must complete all parts of all Tasks for this assignment.
For this assessment you will be preparing number of business documents, based on a supplied scenario, including the following:
- Gap Analysis
Scenario
The information for the scenario, on which this assessment is based, is contained in the following documents. Read these documents in order, making sure you also read any other linked documents. This scenario may be used in future assessments.
- Bazaar Ceramics Scenario Part A.docx
This document provides you with the background information on your employer – Online Systems Solutions. In particular it describes the current business strategy approach.
It also includes information on one of their clients, Bazaar Ceramics; however this is not relevant to this case study.
- Online Systems Solutions Scenario Part A.docx
This document provides you with the background information on this task. It includes a description of Online Systems Solutions motivation to create a Sustainable IT Strategic Plan.
- Very Private Cloud Scenario Part A.docx
This document provides you with the background information on this task. It includes a description of Very Private Cloud, a business which provides Cloud Computing Services to small to medium businesses.
- Online System Solutions Web Hosting Services.pdf
This document provides you with details about your employer Online System Solutions including their current Service Level Models and Staffing.
Please note that not all the information you need for this assessment is contained in these scenario documents. You will also need to review your learning resources and conduct research.
Tasks
Using the information contained in the Scenario documents, perform a Gap Analysis of the current business strategy and document this using the supplied template at the end of this assessment.
Task 1 – Identifying
In your Gap Analysis you need to first identify the organisation. This includes:
- Background information on the organisation including their main business
- Description of the current strategic plan including any mission or vision statements and their current goals. These may be formal or informal.
Task 2 – Diagnosing
In your Gap Analysis you then need to conduct a SWOT Analysis of the organisation. This will include identification of issues which reflect:
- Internal Strengths
- Internal Weaknesses
- External Opportunities
- External Threats
This needs to include all types of issues relating to the organisation and not just Sustainability or IT. E.g. Customer base, staff skills etc.
Task 3 – Conceiving
In your Gap Analysis you then need to review the SWOT Analysis you just conducted. This will be done for the identified issue. i.e. The need for a Sustainable IT Strategic Plan for the Organisation.
To do this:
- List the issues which relate to a Sustainable IT Strategic Plan which reflect Internal Strengths, Internal Weaknesses, External Opportunities and External Threats
- Summarise and write these issues as SMART objectives to define Strategic Objectives.
- List the Performance Targets required to measure these Strategic Objectives. These targets should relate back to the issues identified in the SWOT analysis.
Use the template table included in Appendix A.
Please note you do not need to present your answer in a formal business report. The updating the template in this document and submitting it as a whole will suffice.
