This essay needs to be written in UK English standard level – I’m in my last year of university which is Level 6. This essay needs to be up to that standard.
NO INTRODUCTION NO CONCLUSTION – JUST THE BODY OF THE ESSAY WITH 3 POINTS/ARGUMENTS. (Introduction is already prepared and conclusion)
THIS ESSAY NEEDS TO HAVE SOURCES FROM UK OR EUROPE ONLY!
HISTORY OF THE TOPIC:
SOCIAL CONFLICT AROUND ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE. The things that can evolve from not being educated such as social issues and social problems are produced through the lack of knowledge. Analysing this conflict at that moment around the access to education and the way in which the Book Bloc symbolizes that conflict.
This essay needs to explain the value of the Book Bloc Shield and the symbolic message throughout the essay, which is an object that was invented in Rome, Italy 2010 when their government made budget cuts to education. However, their Book Bloc spread throughout the world like a transnational dimension for student protest, starting in Rome 2010, next London and quickly throughout Europe and eventually American.
However the main focus is where the Book Bloc Shield originated from (which was budget cuts to education in Rome, Italy 2010 and the increased tuition fees in London 2010) and what it symbolizes for the students: which is ART & DESIGN.
1) ART –> is the titles on the front of the shield’s –> which symbolizes the importance of education –> Government and Politian’s (MP) are making the cut in education in Rome, 2010 and the initiation of increased education fees in London, 2010.
2) DESIGN –> Book Bloc Shield –> Protection against police violence towards student protestors
THESIS STATEMENT: This essay will analyse the social conflict around access to education and the way in which the Book Bloc Shield symbolizes that conflict.

BELOW ARE THE GENERAL NOTES I JOTTED DOWN AROUND THE TOPIC.
Addressing the issue and what the students were trying to do, which was draw attention to the REAL ISSUES that got buried by media.
-Book Bloc Shield initiated in Italy, 2010. It was made from Plexiglas, foam rubber, cardboard, and rope; which had titles of books on the front.
-The art signifies or symbolizes the importance of education with the titles on the front of the shields.
-The design signifies or symbolizes protection against violence or indirect violence from police, i.e. punches, pushes, batons and their shields.
-Police have certain forms of authority mechanisms that handle different types of social problems / behaviours (such as riots). Their attire usually consist of a shield, helmet, baton and physical force if by any means necessary.
-The Book Bloc Shield is not a weapon but yet a message It symbolizes the original issue which si overlooked in the protest process and media watering down the truth Stuart Hall Ideological displacement.
Overlooking the real reason in which the Book Bloc Shield was created for which was to protect against their education and police violating their authorities.
A) Cute to education
B) Increased tuition fees
C) Police violence
LOOKING AT ASSUMED ISSUES WHICH CAUSED EDUCATION CUTS IN ROME:
Anomie (Durkiem): Societal Break Down
Perhaps the financial Crisis (USA) 2008, could have just had its effect on Italy in 2009/2010.
Power of the Elite: An ideology effect of the elite not trying to educate everyone, making it difficult for everyone to get education – Only their kind can get education – meaning if you can afford the cuts or raised fees then you could be seen on their level of class. Whereas the general public that can’t won’t matter. It is as if they only want their kind to get education and not everyone.
Human Rights: The right to university education &
The right to express oneself.
What is changing at the moment around education as linked to our understanding of Equality, is that changing at the moment if education cost money? Then how does that then reproduce Inequality? Because one needs money to access education, and those who have money have more access to education. How does saying that people have to pay for education but they could access loans… Why is that a problematic solution because it produces people who are or will be heavily indebet, and suffering the high interest rates put of these loans as well, which is the consequence of the student face when seeking higher education.
CONFLICT (SOCIAL CONFLICT THEORY) AT THE HEART OF SYMBOLIC MESSAGES AROUND ACCESS TO EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE.
