Its for a bio stats class and its basically statistics

(Covers week 7 &8, there are some questions that require the knowledge of week 8 subject matter; please don’t be in a rush to get this submitted.)

  1. A population is known to be normally distributed with a standard deviation of 2.7, compute:

  • 95% confidence interval on the mean based on the following sample of nine: 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 21, & 22 and interpret your results.

  • 99% confidence interval using the same data.

  1. Create a 99% confidence interval to estimate the mean of a normally distributed population of diastolic blood pressures where a random sample of 25 pressures were selected and found to have a sample mean of 80mmHg and a sample standard deviation of 5mmHg.

  1. Create a 95% confidence interval to estimate the mean of a normally distributed population of diastolic blood pressures with a standard deviation of 5 mmHg, where a sample of 16 pressures were selected and found to have a sample mean of 76mmHg.

  1. Always remember to interpret your results after constructing your confidence interval.
