Length: 1500 (excluding the abstract and the reference list).
Details of the task
The task has three (3) components, as follows:
1. Two (2) aspects of HRM practices to be use
(i) Performance management and reward
(ii) Workplace health & safety (WHS)
2. Undertake a literature review for the two (2) chosen aspects to establish the characteristics of professional HRM practice. Identify and support your findings by referencing academic literature strictly using quality text books (including the course textbook – HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT: STRATEGY AND PRACTICE 8TH ED, Nankervis>Coffey>Shields) and journal articles of relevance.
3. Assume that you are the HR Manager of your organisation (Linfox). Your Chief Executive Officer has asked you to write a report explaining the important role of human resource management (HRM) in executing your organisation’s business strategy. In your report, you will explain how HR managers can apply the two (2) identified HRM practices you have selected to enhance organisational/Linfox performance. Also provide a recommendation on how to improve and/or address any issue you may have identified with the selected HRM practices i.e. (i) Performance management and reward and (ii) Workplace health & safety
In your report, you are required to:
• Explain the role of HRM in executing your organisation’s business strategy (Linfox).
• Explain key theories and models relating to the two (2) HR practices identified for discussion in your report. Theories to be explain are below; use one theory for each HR practices
(i) Economic relationship
(ii) Psychological contract
• Discuss how your organisation (Linfox) will benefit from using the two (2) identified human resource management practices to improve organisational performance.
• Conduct a “critical analysis”, which means you should not only understand some basic concepts involved in the case organisation, but also critically evaluate relevant information to support your arguments.
• Demonstrate additional research beyond the course material and the course textbook by using recent peer reviewed academic journal articles published between 2008 and 2016 (minimum of twelve {12}).
In-text citations and a full reference list (Harvard format) are required.
