1. Subject matter of assignment- your answer should, with respect to the organisation(s) in which your selected budgeting system is located:
-(i) explore the purposes which are served by the budgeting system;
– (ii) describe current budgeting practices in your organisation (including such matters as how the overall budget for the organisation is broken down, who is involved in their construction and operation, how the overall size of the budget is determined);
-(iii) consider the extent to which current organisational practices are
consistent with the purposes which you have identified;
– (iv) consider the consistency between the budget and other planning mechanisms (particularly those relating to long term strategic planning)
– (iv) if appropriate, suggest alternative ways of running the budgeting system.
2. Indicative weighting of marks for this assignment
As a guide, the available marks will be split (approximately)
– Content 40%
– Criticality 30%
– Academic support 30%
