Dilemma:-
a 27 year old male with type 1 diabetes since the age of 3 years. He attends the clinic with his girlfriend who wants to understand about diabetes and hypoglycemia. He tells you his driving lenience renewal is due and he is happy that his HbA1c is below 6.5% During the course of the meeting that he is experiencing unaware hypoglycemia with a resent admission to hospital when he collapsed without warning. He is seeing the endocrinologist the next day for his driving licence renewal. You discuss hypos with him and the danger of unaware hypos. He is upset at his girlfriend for disclosing what happened and the hospital admission. he pleads with you not to say anything to the endocrinologist as he needs his driving licence for work.
