You have just been named Director of Data Administration of Happy Cruise Lines. Happy Cruise Lines maintains a central IS organization with several operational relational databases on several large server computers at its headquarters. Each of its cruise ships has a medium-scale server on board with its own databases that help manage the running of the ship. Real-time transmissions are made between headquarters and the ships via satellite that keep both the headquarters and shipboard databases constantly up-to-date.
1.1. What is a data dictionary? List some typical uses of the data dictionary.
